ALL RELIGIONS BELONG TO BABA

Mehera J. Irani

On the 25th February, the Day of Days, we were up before dawn and were gathered together to say aloud "Yazdan" (God's name in Persian) and then "Avatar Meher Baba Ki Jai" on the stroke of 5 a.m. As we were saying it we could simultaneously hear the "Jai" being said from the men mandali's quarters.

The Arti record was then played on the microphone at the mandali's and could be heard in the nearby village. Some of Baba's favorite ghazal and bhajan records were then played.

The Hall were Baba sits with the mandali was most tastefully decorated, especially the corner round Beloved's chair. Fresh flower garlands were draped at entranceways and the garden was decorated with paper buntings.

In Ahmednagar, a six-hour procession took place with 30,000 people, and over one hundred gaily colored bullock carts took part. A full length life-size photo of Baba was placed on a jeep which was decorated to resemble a boat and led the procession. Baba's photo was bedecked by lights and the various religious symbols were shown.

The procession which went through Nagar's main streets was accompanied by the chanting of bhajans and prayers sung by the various religious groups signifying that Baba belongs to all religions, just as all religions belong to Baba.
